Day 01: Start your journey in the morning from Bangalore to Chikkamagaluru. En route, visit:
Shravanabelagola (approx. 145 km / 2.5 hrs drive) - A renowned Jain pilgrimage site in South India, Shravanabelagola is famous for its massive 57-ft high statue of Bahubali, the world’s tallest monolithic stone statue carved from a single granite block.
Halebidu (approx. 80 km / 1.5 hrs drive) - The Hoysaleshwara Temple in Halebidu is a 12th-century Hoysala masterpiece. This twin-shrined temple, the largest Shiva temple built by the Hoysalas, houses two huge Nandi statues, each in front of the twin shrines.
Note: The Sacred Ensembles of the Hoysalas, including the famed Hoysala temples of Belur, Halebidu, and Somanathapura, have been added to the UNESCO World Heritage list, marking the 42nd UNESCO World Heritage Site in India.
Proceed to Chikkamagaluru (approx. 35 km). Arrive at the resort in the evening, followed by dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 02: Post breakfast, explore local sightseeing:
Mullayanagiri - The highest peak in Karnataka, Mullayanagiri (6,300 feet above sea level) is famous for its panoramic views and cool, breezy weather. A climb of about 500 steps from the parking area leads you to the summit, which features a Shiva temple. You'll enjoy a stunning aerial view of the town if the skies are clear.
Datta Peetha (Bababudan Giri) - The second-highest peak in Karnataka after Mullayanagiri. The drive here offers some of the most scenic views in the region. Jeeps are available from the parking area to take you further up to Manikyadhara Falls and beyond.
Jhari Falls (Buttermilk Falls) - A popular waterfall in Chikkamagaluru, Buttermilk Falls is accessible via a thrilling jeep ride over 3-4 km of bumpy and muddy terrain. You can visit this spot along with Mullayanagiri and Datta Peetha.
Return to the resort for leisure activities, followed by dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 03: After breakfast, visit:
Deviramma Temple - According to legend, after defeating the buffalo-headed demon Mahishasura, Goddess Chamundeshwari secluded herself in this hill to calm her fury, giving the hill its name Deviramma Betta, or Hill of the Goddess.
Kalatthagiri Falls - Local legends suggest that the Kallathigiri Falls was once a pilgrimage center for the Saint Agasthya. Here, you can explore the Veerabhadra Temple, constructed during the Vijayanagara era.
Hebbe Falls - A two-tiered waterfall near Kemmangundi, Hebbe Falls is a popular tourist attraction. The journey to the falls involves a jeep ride followed by a trek, making it an adventurous experience.
Return to the resort, and enjoy leisure time, followed by dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 04: After breakfast, check out from the resort. On the way back to Bangalore, visit:
- Belur Chennakeshava Temple - The 12th-century Chennakeshava Temple in Belur is one of the most famous Hoysala temples in the region. Dedicated to Vishnu, the temple took over 100 years to complete and showcases incredible craftsmanship. Hiring a guide is recommended to fully appreciate the artistry.
Proceed to Bangalore with beautiful memories of Chikkamagaluru.
